The Diaspora of Malappuram (DoM) Qatar, a group of residents from Malappuram district in Kerala, southern India, gathered at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 countdown clock at Doha Corniche to celebrate the opening of the Santosh Trophy tournament. The event, set to begin on Saturday, is being hosted for the first time in Malappuram. The National Football Championship or Santosh Trophy is a football knock-out competition established in 1941 and contested by regional state associations and government institutions under the All India Football Federation, the sport's governing body in India. DoM president V C Mashood, treasurer Keshavdas, sports wing chairman Siddique Vazakad, Naufal P C Kattupara, Sreejith C P, Harishankar Angadipuram, Anees K D Valapuram, Irfan Pakara, student wing representatives Amrita Keshavdas, Avani Keshavdas Nuim bin Mashhood and Ivan P C were present.
The event, set to begin on Saturday, is being hosted for the first time in Malappuram.
