ICC pays tribute to Dr B R Ambedkar

The event, held on April 14, also marked Ambedkar's 131st birthday.
Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) students' forum paid tribute to the contributions of Bharat Ratna Dr B R Ambedkar, architect of the Constitution of India, as part of 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav', celebrating 75years of independence.
The event, held on April 14, also marked Ambedkar's 131st birthday. The gathering was welcomed by ICC's cultural head Shweta Koshti.Children sang the national anthems of Qatar and India followed by a documentary on Dr Ambedkar, prepared by Sameer Moosa.The chief guest, Indian embassy first secretary and ICC co-ordinating officer, Xavier Dhanraj, in his speech recalled how Dr Ambedkar crossed all hurdles in life with one weapon - his highest focus on academics and educational achievements. Dhanraj stressed his point that education is respected at all levels of the society, describing his personal experiences.Samridhi Panwar, Varnika Alagappan, Haripriya Billava, Jai Asvin, Ashley Hemant, Yayati Dutta, Jessica Meekadevakumar, Bhavya Jain, Meena Makesh, Sai Thenappan, Shriya Patil, Mohammad Zain, Mahi Shrivastava, Tanishi Thapa, Subodhidhara Raj, Sunandita, Siddhesh Bandache, Afthab Basheer and Himani Rao spoke on the occasion.Aaesha Fathima anchored the event. J P Pavitra welcomed the guests and Himani Rao proposed a vote of thanks.The event was co-ordinated by head of activity and education Kamla Thakur. ICC president P N Baburajan, vice president Subramanya Hebbagelu, general secretary Krishna Kumar and other managing committee members, community leaders, school teachers, and parents were present.
