Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) hosted a Ramadan Ghabga ceremony at Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel for representatives of the corporation’s medical and administrative teams.
The event was held in the presence of chief medical officer Dr Abdullah al-Ansari, corporate communications chief Ali Abdullah al-Khater, and Hamad Nasser al-Khalifa, head of Facilities Development and acting head of Business Services, along with a number of HMC officials and executives.
Representatives of the corporation’s strategic partners also attended the Ghabga, including Dr Heba Bawadi, the director of Strategy and Programme Development at Qatar University (QU), who attended on behalf of QU vice-president of Health and Medical Sciences Dr Asma al-Thani, and Dr Marwan Abu-Hijleh, the acting dean of the QU’s College of Medicine.
Alumni Affairs director Haya al-Hamad attended the event from Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar alongside Brigadier-General Dr Asaad Ahmed Khalil from the Department of Medical Services at the Ministry of Defence.
Al-Khater opened the ceremony and greeted the attendees, stating: “The Ramadan Ghabga is a great occasion for meeting colleagues and medical workers outside the work environment, and is an opportunity for social networking among colleagues.”
He also expressed appreciation for all medical staff for their sincere efforts over the past two years in managing the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, which led to the success of the health sector in controlling the pandemic.
Dr al-Ansari then welcomed the attendees and the HMC partners, emphasising the fruitful co-operation in preparing medical teams and educating and graduating future doctors, as well as continuing collaborations in the field of scientific research.
He also referred to the successful co-operation with the Medical Services Department at the Ministry of Defence in equipping Lebsayyer Field Hospital during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The meeting of the Ramadan Ghabga ceremony for the HMC was characterised by a friendly atmosphere underpinned by goodwill and social cohesion among all attendees, a press statement noted.
