The region’s leading local tech platform talabat, which delivers food and q-commerce solutions, has run a Ramadan campaign in partnership with Qatar Charity (QC) for the fourth year. Each Tuesday during the holy month, QR1 was donated for each grocery order placed on the platform as part of talabat’s #TechForGood campaign.
Additionally, customers have also generously donated to QC using the talabat app, reaching a total of around QR400,000 in donations during the first three weeks of Ramadan. Customers also have the opportunity to donate a Ramadan meal for a family in need (worth QR150), or a Ramadan basket worth QR500 -- which is then distributed by QC.
Francisco Miguel de Sousa, managing director at talabat Qatar said: "talabat and Qatar Charity are celebrating four years of partnership this year as it was the first charity added on the talabat application in the region. The talabat Tuesday campaign is part of our ongoing support to always do our part in giving back to those in need and is part of our #TechForGood initiatives. During the holy month of Ramadan, we also wanted to ensure that customers can easily donate to charitable organisations so they can help us support humanitarian needs and give back to our communities.”
Ahmmed Omar al-Sherawi, head of the Relationships and Community Partnerships section at QC thanked talabat for its four-year partnership, and continued support for community efforts and humanitarian projects. He indicated that cooperating with all individuals, organisations, and companies is the key to the success of charitable and volunteer work. Additionally, QC is keen to provide opportunities to all the sections of the community and commercial bodies to contribute to achieving their common humanitarian goals. Customers can donate to QC on the talabat app during the rest of the holy month of Ramadan and throughout the year.
