The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has chalked out a slew of plans to maintain public safety and security during the Eid-al-Fitr celebrations in Qatar. The ministry is intensifying measures to ensure safety and spread traffic awareness while urging the public to adhere to the Covid-19 precautionary measures.
The Traffic Patrols and Traffic Investigation Department at the General Traffic Department has completed all its preparations to secure traffic during the blessed Eid al-Fitr. It has prepared a comprehensive plan based on intensifying the patrols in all regions of the country, especially around mosques and Eid prayer grounds. Also, special attention will be given to residential areas round the clock while patrolling will be carried around shopping complexes, commercial streets and markets, especially during the evening period.
During the morning period on the first day of Eid, the administration will focus its efforts to ease traffic near prayer grounds. During the evening period, patrols and traffic police will be present at the venues where the events accompanying Eid al-Fitr and those areas where a large number of the public are expected to be present like the Corniche and The Pearl along with other tourism spots.
The plan also includes monitoring vehicle movement through (Tala’) cameras that cover most intersections, signals and roads. Traffic control and rapid intervention in emergency situations will be in place while traffic jams will be monitored. During the Eid al-Fitr holidays, all traffic investigation departments will work round the clock to address traffic accidents. Also, plans are in place to ensure the safety of beach goers.
Maj. Gen Khalifa Abdullah al-Nuaimi, head of the National Command Centre ( NCC ), told local Arabic daily Arrayah that the centre's work strategy includes receiving calls, reports and complaints in emergency and accidents from all over the country while immediately referring them to the competent authorities for immediate response and follow-up.
Brig. Gen. Nasser Jabr al-Nuaimi, Director General of Coasts and Borders Security, explained that the department will intensify patrols due to the increase in the number of sea goers to ensure their safety during the Eid celebrations.
“The Maritime Patrols Department of the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security works round the clock with the aim of providing the necessary assistance to fishermen and other sea-goers.
Lt. Col. Mohamed Ahmed al-Marafi, Director of Operations Department at the General Directorate of Civil Defense, said the department is all set to respond to any case.
Lt. Col. Saqr Khamis al-Kubaisi, Assistant Director of the Capital Security Department said that the police are set to receive calls and carry out their security tasks while responding quickly to the complaints.
Lt. Col. Nayef bin Faleh al-Thani, Director of the Rescue Police Department (Al Fazaa), said that the department is making preparations by increasing the number of patrols in various parts of the country. “Al Fazaa patrols are present to prevent the occurrence of any accidents or violations that harm the general peace of the people. The department’s plan depends on the publication and presence of patrols near public parks, markets, commercial complexes, and tourist places, as well as securing the prayer grounds and mosques during Eid prayers,” he said.
