Turkish community members in Qatar have distributed Iftar meals to workers and motorists during Ramadan.
The initiative came as part of the community’s efforts to help the needy during the holy month and appreciating the workers for their services to the society.
Each Iftar kit included rice, chicken, vegetables, Turkish sweets, dates, water, juice, a plastic bag, spoon, fork and tissue paper. The kits were distributed with a focus on workers. “The initiative was attended by 20 volunteers who distributed the food kits in different places,” said Günay Sedat, a member of the collective.
The initiative covered the Al Sadd, Al Kheesa and Al Shaqab areas, where the volunteers greeted the recipients and gave them the kits.
Sedat said the collective wanted to leave a message of helping each other. “Ensuring the welfare of other humans is a collective responsibility and we want to look after humans every single day as part of our social responsibility. We are carrying out such initiatives in Turkey and African countries,” he said.
Launched on the first day of Ramadan, the drive saw the distribution of a total of 24,000 kits throughout the holy month. The food items were contributed and the kits prepared by the volunteers. “All worked together to make it a big success,” he said.
Turkish community members Mustafa Serkan Pak, Onur Tekmen and Mert Arif Y?ld?z led the initiative.
