The public beaches across the country have witnessed a substantial turnout of temporary campers during the ongoing Eid al-Fitr holidays, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change had extended the period of temporary camping on the beaches taking note of the Eid holidays.
Campers lauded the ministry for allowing camping. Some complained that many campers continue discarding used coal in the sand despite the ministry providing sufficient waste containers. They point out that some of the beaches are polluted by coal residues with the golden coloured sand turning into black.
Arrayah reported that the Sealine beach and sand dunes have witnessed huge flow of visitors after the Covid-19 restrictions were eased and return of tourist gatherings are allowed. Tourists enjoy riding dune bikes and camels, swimming, as well as dune bashing in SUVs.
