MES Indian School conducted an orientation session for teachers recently, themed ‘Teachers’ Development, Take a Step Forward’.
The orientation began with a counselling session on 'Effective Strategies in Dealing with Challenging Behaviour' by the school principal, Hameeda Kadar. She got the teachers acquainted with the art and ways of dealing with the challenging behaviour of students, which will reduce disruptions in classrooms, making the children reach expectations and attain educational goals.
Among the other training topics covered during the orientation sessions were ‘Learning Styles in Inclusive Education - Teaching Strategies’ by Jisha
A G, Fathima Samar and Fashna Abdul Samad, student counsellors; ‘Mathematics in Everyday Life’ by Mohamed Haneefa; ‘Innovative Teaching
Strategies’ by Dr Aniket Srivastava and S Chand Group; ‘Differentiated Instruction’ by Mary Cynthia; ‘Classroom Management Tips’ by Renu Vinod Rathuri and Cheryl Victoria Soans; and ‘Setting Behavioural Expectations and Encouraging Positive Behaviour in the Classroom’ by Jisha A G and Fathima Samar.
The sessions presented by the school officials and teachers were engaging and unique in its own way. The orientation brought out the various talents of teachers besides instilling confidence.
Sibi Susan, Jisha A G and Aboobacker Siddique (Boys’ Section), Mary Cynthia (Girls’ Section), Resmi Ajithkumar and Shemeera Shameer (Junior Section), and Jesna Siju and Suja Mathew (Kindergarten) were the in-charge teachers of the orientation session.
