A unique celebration of Europe Day will take place at the Opera House of Katara – the Cultural Village on May 28.
For this special occasion, the French Embassy in Qatar, together with the German Embassy and Katara Opera House, in cooperation with the Institut Français, are organising a concert as an homage to Europe.
The concert is a great chance to celebrate and exchange culture between the diverse nations of the European Union as well as with Qatar, it was explained in a statement.
The unity of Europe, the French presidency of the EU, and the strong relationship between Germany and France represented through this collaboration, will be highlighted through the skillful work of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra and the talented conductor David Niemann.
Through the rich programme, the orchestra will be conducted by David Niemann and will play 11 pieces that represent many European countries. The concert will celebrate the richness of European music, as a point of unity for cultures across the world.
The programme offers famous composers such as Wagner, Berlioz but also technical pieces from Liszt such as “Hungarian Rhapsody”. The one and a half hour concert will take place at 7.30 p.m.
 
David Niemann is a German conductor who is rapidly emerging as one of the most promising conductors of his young generation. Second prize winner of the 2015 Malko Conducting Competition, he was soon after appointed Assistant Conductor at the Opéra Orchestre National Montpellier, working alongside with chief conductor Michael Schoenwandt.
His talent and passion have made him a welcome addition to orchestras across the world, performing with the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Residentie Orkest, Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra and many more.
