The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, will participate in the World Summit on the Information Society 2022 Forum, to be held from May 30 to June 03, at the headquarters of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva, Switzerland.
This forum is the world's largest annual gathering of the ICT for Development community.
The participation comes within the framework of the State of Qatar's endeavor to expand and enhance its participation in international forums and events, and its belief in the importance of international action and the exchange of experiences between active countries in various vital fields.
The State of Qatar, the golden strategic partner of the forum, is represented by a high-level official delegation that includes representatives of a number of official authorities in the country, headed by Mashael Ali Al Hammadi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Information Technology Affairs at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
The Qatari delegation includes representatives from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, the Planning and Statistics Authority, Mada - Qatar Assistive Technology Center and Ehsan Center.
Mashael Ali Al Hammadi pointed out the importance of the State of Qatar's participation in the forum in order to review aspects of digital transformation in the country, which will be discussed during the main workshop entitled "Digital Transformation of the Government of the State of Qatar" and the extent to which digital transformation, its methods and means, and the most prominent achievements that have been implemented in this aspect in the current time, in addition to presenting future projects.
Al Hammadi explained that 17 projects from the State of Qatar had qualified to participate in the World Summit Award competition, which aims to evaluate projects and activities that benefit from the power of information and communication technology to advance sustainable development, and that two of these projects have reached the final stage, where they were nominated for a champion project award.
