Sensor-enabled traffic police vehicles to catch violations

Further intensifying its efforts to bring down accidents and ensure road safety, the General Directorate of Traffic has deployed a set of patrol vehicles with latest camera sensors on Qatar's roads. With their highly efficient and advanced censors, the vehicles are able to detect violations while also identifying the vehicles and motorists concerned as well as individuals standing in the vicinity of a vehicle.
He said more such cameras with sensors will be installed.The official said some such vehicles are already patrolling the country's roads while more will be deployed soon, focusing on expressways and highways. He said the sensors notify a officers inside a police car if any wanted vehicle or person is nearby. Also, the sensors can detect violations such as the use of mobile cameras while driving. The live data is transferred to the National Command Centre.
Capt al-Kuwari said the new vehicles have been brought in as part of the initiatives of the General Directorate of Traffic to reduce road accidents and prevent violations. He said added that most roads in Qatar are monitored through cameras installed as part of the Talaa project as well as mobile cameras.
