Qatar’s delegation was led by Mohammed Ali al-Meer, expert in the Assistant Undersecretary’s Office for Labour Affairs, Ministry of Labour. The Pakistani side was headed by Ishrat Ali, secretary, Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource Development along with representatives of Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment (BE&OE), Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC) and National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC).
The two sides had a productive debate on the export of high professional and skilled Pakistani nationals in the fields of Medicines, Engineering and Information Technology through Government to Government channel, it is explained. Development of an online platform for general recruitment through establishment of job portals between the countries to ensure transparent, swift and efficient recruitment of Pakistani workers to Qatar was proposed to facilitate employers and companies of Qatar.
The Qatari delegation was also apprised about the role of NAVTTC in providing technical training to Pakistani manpower. The visiting delegation visited Construction Technology & Training Institute (CTTI) working under the patronage of NAVTTC to examine the training programmes imparting different skills and expertise.
The Pakistani delegation highly appreciated and expressed satisfaction on the worker friendly policies of the Qatari Government and overall working and living conditions of Pakistani workers. The Qatari side appreciated the role of Pakistani diaspora in the development of Qatar, and welcomed further collaboration to enhance Pakistani manpower in Qatar through efficient and transparent recruitment mechanisms, the statement added.
