HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums, has announced the unveiling of a new sculpture at Lusail, titled 'Egal'. "Pleased to unveil 'Egal', a new sculpture by the Qatari artist Shouq Almana, at Lusail. 'Egal' serves as a tribute to Qatar’s history and traditions, by representing a piece of cultural headwear worn by men as part of the traditional attire," HE Sheikha Al Mayassa tweeted on Sunday. The ‘egal’ is typically worn on top of the 'ghitra', a square scarf, she explained. "The raised stance of the ‘egal’ is a symbol of respect and appreciation towards Qatar’s leadership, citizens and residents for their unity, resilience, and dedication to the State of Qatar."
