Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC), a member of Qatar Foundation (QF) announced that admission is open for the fourth edition of its 'My Career — My Future' programme for high school students in Qatar.
This year's edition will focus on providing students with the opportunity to experience work environments in several industries across Qatar.
QCDC will receive admission applications till June 20.
The programme will be held in Arabic from June 26 to 30.
During the programme, students will obtain practical experience, providing them with hands-on experience to chart their own academic and career paths, which will reflect positively on their efficiency, performance, and future productivity.
The programme covers numerous disciplines including: aviation, medicine, veterinary medicine, media, film-making, event management, tourism, agricultural engineering, banking, transportation and shipping, social work, business management, and library.
On the first day, participating students will meet representatives from various participating organisations and institutions.
During the following three days (second, third and fourth day), participants will join the organisation of their choice to experience first-hand the work environment.
The last day of the programme will provide information on various universities across Qatar.
University representatives will attend and elaborate on the academic programmes they offer, and share information about majors, application, and admission requirements to various departments, which will help students prepare for their academic studies.
Participating students will be granted a licence to use QCDC's online Career Advising System (CAS). The system helps students explore their interests using psychometric and personality assessment tools.
Students may later book a free virtual career advising session to discuss the results of the assessments and seek advice from a professional career expert.
Senior Career Programs and Services Officer, QCDC, Shaheen Hamad al-Sulaiti said, "Our aim is to incentivise creativity, enlighten youth, and empower them to make the right academic and career choices. The programme offers students an unprecedented opportunity to learn the concepts of self-reliance and responsibility through providing them with hands-on experience to chart their own academic and career paths".
"We encourage students in Qatar to sign up for the programme, as this experience will serve as a starting point to pursue their future academic and career ambitions," he added. (QNA)
