DPS-MIS students urged to contribute conservation efforts

DPS-Modern Indian School marked the World Environment day with a session to raise awareness on environmental issues, foster a culture of environment leadership among its students and reinforce the sustainable development goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
Principal Asna Nafees welcomed the guest speaker Dr Bimalendu B Nath, director MIE-SPPU Institute of Higher Education, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Doha Qatar Campus, and advised the students to contribute significantly to the conservation of natural resources.Dr Nath educated the attendees on key environmental issues and advocated the importance of sustainability and harmony with nature.He appreciated Qatar’s commitment towards comprehensive and sustainable development by highlighting the fact that Qatar is going to host the first-ever carbon neutral FIFA World Cup in history. Highlighting this year’s theme ‘Only One Earth ’, he stressed on collaborative and transformative actions on a global scale to celebrate, protect and restore the planet earth.The Hindi department of the junior school organised an Environment Day exhibition ‘Paryavaran Sanrakshan 2022-23’ with an objective to enhance creativity and innovation and inculcate awareness to save the environment, through the learning and understanding of language.To create and develop interest towards Hindi language, the students were given a chance to explore more by integrating their subject with EVS.Grade V students made models of Save Environment and wrote Hindi quotes on those models and explained these in their mother-tongue.Vice principal Shifa Shaikh, headmistress Sini Menon, academic co-ordinators Rituparna Roy, Sharmila and activity co-ordinator Sonal Sampath visited the exhibition and appreciated the efforts by students and their respective teachers.
