The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), at Qatar University (QU), conducted its 13th Excellence Day conference with the theme, ‘Education through the pandemic and beyond'.
The conference brought together faculty members from across QU to exchange experiences that would increase students' learning opportunities.

Dr Omar al-Ansari, vice-president for academic affairs, opened the conference and the keynote speaker at the conference, Dr Hessa al-Thani, assistant dean for Academic Affairs at the College of Education, gave a presentation on 'Educational Innovation towards a Good Life'.
The forum discussed other topics related to the main topic, such as: mix education and learning - flexible mixture, augmented and virtual reality, lessons from the epidemic, the future of education and learning, partial certificates - learning partial, open education.
The conference was attended by Dr Tamer Khattab, director, CETL, and a number of academic staff at QU. The forum was also hosted (remotely) by Professor Josh Bookin, director of Instructional Support and Development at Harvard Graduate School of Education, where he reviewed the lessons learned in Harvard classrooms during the pandemic.
In a statement, Dr al-Ansari, said: “The University is currently developing some courses, which would be held remotely to keep pace with the emerging requirements in education after the Covid-19 stage, and to carry out this task efficiently, a new centre for E-learning and distance education has been created.”
Dr Khattab stated that QU provides activities and courses for faculty members to develop their expertise in education in accordance with the strategic plan, so as to shift to a learner-centred education based on research and experiment in a creative framework.
