MIE-SPPU Institute of Higher Education (IoHE), Doha recently organised a panel discussion, based on the theme of 'Qatar National Vision 2030: Opportunities and Challenges', to enlighten students with the knowledge and an idea of the emerging developmental junctures as well as obstacles that may be witnessed as Qatar grows to fulfill its vision of becoming an advanced, self-sustaining nation.
Dr Khalid al-Jufairi, co-founder and chairman of the American Centre for Strategic and International Affairs (ACSIA); Ali al-Naama, director of the Corporate Strategy and Planning at Maneteq; and Randhir Mazumdar, a talent development specialist, motivational speaker and leadership coach, were the experts on the panel.
The discussion was called forth by Pranav Raj, faculty member at MIE-SPPU IoHE. Yasir Nainar, vice-president of MIE-SPPU IoHE, delivered the opening note before the discussion.
Nainar said MIE-SPPU IoHE aims at transcending the boundaries of classroom education and inculcating the right vision in students.
Dr B B Nath, director of MIE-SPPU, welcomed the panelists at the institute by highlighting some of the similarities that SP Pune University’s vision shares with Qatar National Vision (QNV2030) – "inclusion, expansion and excellence".
“The 2030 vision aims at an economy driven by knowledge and a knowledge-based skillset,” said Dr al-Jufairi.
Al-Naama briefly discussed how all four pillars of QNV2030 are interconnected as well as interdependent. He called attention to the policies that Qatar has implemented to become self-reliant and reduce the outsourcing of resources.
Mazumdar mainly highlighted the role of expatriates in accomplishing QNV2030.
The event's organisation was led by Dr Manish Kumar Varma, faculty member at MIE-SPPU IoHE, and accomplished by the administrator, Dinesh Bakshi, along with the members of the Students’ Council, Seminar Cell and Communication Cell of the institute.
