The 12th meeting of the Arab Group for Food Safety, which was held over two days under the chairmanship of Qatar, concluded at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo. Qatar was represented in the meeting by a delegation from the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) headed by the Head of Ports Health and Food Control section in the ministry Khaled al-Sulaiti.
The Arab Group for Food Safety discussed many important topics, most notably the final draft of the Arab food safety policy document, the draft terms of reference for the Arab Group for Food Safety, the document that organises the groups work and the tasks assigned to it and its competencies, and the Arab Group for Food Safety's work strategy (2023-2027).
The Arab Group for Food Safety consists of representatives of organisations, bodies and various structures entrusted with food safety regulations and standards in the member states of the League of Arab States -- signatories to the Agreement to Facilitate and Develop Inter-Arab Trade and the Executive Program for the Pan Arab Free Trade Area Pafta -- and specialised organisations affiliated with the League, such as the Arab Organisation for Agricultural Development (AOAD) and the Arab Industrial Development & Mining Organisation (AIDMO).
