His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Sierra Leonean President Dr Julius Maada Bio held an official talks session at the Amiri Diwan on Sunday.During the session, they reviewed the bilateral relations and ways to support and develop these relations in various fields, particularly in investment, economy, tourism and education spheres, in addition to discussing a number of regional and international issues of common interest.The session was attended by HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, HE the Chief of Amiri Diwan Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, HE the Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie and HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Qassim al-Thani.
On the Sierra Leonean side, the session was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation David J Francis, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Affairs Dr Abu Bakarr Karim, Minister of Trade and Industry Dr Edward Hinga Sandy and Resident Minister in Southern Province Mohamed K Alie.After the session, His Highness the Amir and the Sierra Leonean president witnessed the signing of a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding between the two countries in various fields.They witnessed the signing of an MoU for co-operation in the legal field between the ministries of justice in the two countries, an MoU for co-operation in tourism and business events, an agreement on mutual administrative assistance for the optimal implementation of customs law to investigate and combat customs violations between the two countries, an agreement on regulating the employment of Sierra Leonean workers in Qatar and an MoU for co-operation in education, higher education and scientific research, in addition to an agreement on the establishment of a joint committee for co-operation between the governments of the two countries.Later, His Highness the Amir hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of the Sierra Leonean president and the accompanying delegation.Earlier, the Sierra Leonean president was accorded an official reception ceremony at the Amiri Diwan.
