Amir, Egyptian president hold talks to enhance investment, energy ties

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi held official talks at Al Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo Saturday.At the outset of the talks, the Egyptian president welcomed His Highness the Amir and the accompanying delegation, wishing him a pleasant stay.He also congratulated His Highness the Amir on the anniversary of his accession to power, praising Qatar's development and civilisational achievements under his reign in various fields, praying the Almighty Allah to grant His Highness good health and wellness, and the Qatari people further development and prosperity. President al-Sisi also stressed that His Highness the Amir's visit is an important step towards developing bilateral relations in various fields.For his part, His Highness the Amir thanked the president for the warm reception and hospitality, looking forward to strengthening co-operation relations in a way that achieves common aspirations, serves the interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples and develops them to broader horizons on various levels.The two leaders discussed ways to enhance and develop bilateral relations in various fields, especially in investment, energy, defence, culture and sports.His Highness the Amir and the Egyptian president discussed a number of current issues on the regional and international arenas, and exchanged views on them, especially the situation in the Middle East.The talks were attended by His Highness the Amir's Personal Representative His Highness Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, HE the Chief of the Amiri Diwan Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani and HE the Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed al-Kuwari.On the Egyptian side, the session was attended by Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Finance Minister Dr Mohamed Maait, Planning and Economic Development Minister Dr Hala Elsaid.The Amir and the Egyptian president also held a bilateral meeting, in which they discussed aspects of supporting and developing the strong brotherly relations between the two countries, and all issues of common concern.Earlier, an official reception ceremony was held for His Highness the Amir upon his arrival at Al Ittihadiya Palace.The Amir was received by President al-Sisi. The ceremony began with the playing of the Qatari and Egyptian national anthems, after which the Amir reviewed the guard of honour. Then His Highness shook hands with members of the Egyptian official delegation and senior officials.The Egyptian president shook hands with members of the official delegation accompanying the Amir.His Highness the Amir attended a luncheon banquet hosted by President al-Sisi.The banquet was attended by His Highness Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani and members of the official delegation. On the Egyptian side, it was attended by a number of ministers and senior officials.The Amir left Cairo for a visit to the city of Oran at the invitation of Algerian President Abdelmajid Tebboune to attend the opening ceremony of the 19th Mediterranean Games 2022.The Amir and the accompanying delegation were seen off upon at Cairo International Airport by President al-Sisi, senior officials, Qatar's ambassador to Egypt Salem bin Mubarak al-Shafi and Egyptian ambassador to Qatar Amr el-Sherbini.His Highness the Amir sent a cable to President al-Sisi, in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation for the hospitality and warm welcome that were accorded to him and the accompanying delegation during their visit, which provided an opportunity to exchange views on matters and issues of interest to the two countries, besides enhancing of the strong brotherly ties between the two countries for the good and interest of the two peoples. His Highness wished the Egyptian president good health and wellness and the brotherly Egyptian people further progress and prosperity.
