The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) has issued an updated version of the spectrum plan for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which includes detailed information added to the original plan that CRA had published on November 21, 2020, in accordance with the requirements of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), which stipulates that the authority responsible for managing the radio spectrum in the host country publish and update the spectrum plan, as needed. The spectrum plan contributes to ensuring the authorised use of the radio spectrum in Qatar and achieving the desired success before and during the hosting of the event. The second edition of the plan provides some in-depth updates to the frequency plans for the wireless systems and applications expected to be used during the host of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.It also extends new available frequency bands or wireless technologies that will be deployed or used for the first time in this edition of the World Cup.This new version comes after CRA's successful management of the spectrum plan during the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021 and the experience that CRA gained through its dealing with all stakeholders from various sectors that were seeking to obtain the radio spectrum for their systems and applications during the event. The new version of the spectrum plan for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 includes a comprehensive update of the appendix related to the e-Spectrum Portal Application Process that was recently developed and upgraded by CRA.The updated appendix also provides detailed description of the process to use the CRA's Special Events Portal and covers the steps to submit spectrum applications and requirements, scheduling testing and tagging appointments as well as tracking and downloading authorisations and radio licences. The spectrum plan for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 considers all radio spectrum requirements for a wide range of modern wireless applications, in addition to the systems and applications that are already in use in the country by several national sectors.
