His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani sent Friday cables of condolences to Japan's Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on the death of former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe.

"We were saddened by the news of the assassination of our friend Shinzo Abe, the former Prime Minister of Japan, who was a loyal friend of the State of Qatar and a supporter of the close relations between our two countries. As we strongly condemn this heinous crime, we express our deepest condolences to his family and the friendly Japanese people."
