PICE Qatar organises International Engineers' Congress

The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) Qatar Chapter added another major achievement to its long list of impressive credentials with the successful hosting of the 1st International Engineers Congress (IEC) recently.
Themed 'Boosting Construction and Engineering Professionals with Breakthrough Innovations to Overcome Challenges,' the event commenced with an opening address by PICE Qatar first vice-president Elvin D Fajutagana, followed by a welcome address by PICE Qatar president Rolan E Nevado.

A total of 56 participants from various professional organisations attended the face-to-face event which was also streamed live via Zoom to 70 online attendees. The keynote speakers were Mark Anthony P Abendan, chairman of the Philippine Professional Organisation-Qatar and PICE Qatar-immediate past president; Abdul Sathar, vice-president - professional affairs, Indian Business and Professionals Council, and immediate past president of Institute of Engineers India-Qatar; Tamer Naguib, president, Institution of Engineers Australia-Qatar; Kamil Ariff, chairman of the Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka-Qatar; and Roy L Baquiran, PICE Qatar founding president, and Philippine Technological Council deputy presidential adviser for Qatar.Philippine labour attache Adam A Musa, the guest of honour and speaker, underlined the role of engineering professionals as an essential foundation for nation-building. Technical lectures were later presented by the following: Jeffrey P Cimagala (PICE Qatar) - Optimisation of Reduced Beam Sections for Ductile Detailing of Seismic Joint Connections Using Finite Element Analysis; Sudhyasatya B P Banerjee (IEI Qatar) - Lean Implementation in Construction Management; Gesilo P Cimagala, Jr (IECEP Qatar) - Unified Communications Enhancing Collaboration in Construction Industry; Gazi Mohamed Badruddoza (IEB Qatar) - Innovation to Overcome Construction Challenges; Mario M Solang (IIEE Qatar) - Advance Metering Infrastructure, and K M Salihudeen (IEI Qatar) - Modern Trends & Innovations in the Construction Industry.PICE Qatar second vice-president Loraine C Radan, in her closing speech, congratulated participants, including the steering committee for the successful conduct of the event and looked forward to more collaborative arrangements with other IEP organisations in Qatar next year.
