Gaza hospitals welcome new batch of Palestinian physicians on QRCS scholarship

Hospitals in the Gaza Strip received a new batch of Palestinian doctors on scholarship from the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) after they completed training programmes and sub-specialties in Jordan, QNA reported.QRCS praised the successes achieved by returning doctors, whether in helping develop the medical service quality or their contributions to developing the local medical cadres according to international health protocols.QRCS stressed its continued support for these quality programmes, which contribute to improving the medical services provided to patients by the Palestinian medical sector.Director-General of International Co-operation at the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip Dr Abdul-Latif al-Haj said that the ministry pays great attention to the doctor’s scholarship programme abroad which enhances the performance of medical sector workers despite the exceptional and difficult circumstances imposed by the siege and the ongoing wars on the Strip.He pointed out that the returning physicians received special medical training in the best hospitals and medical centres in Jordan, which is clearly reflected in the results of the surgeries that they provided to patients in governmental hospitals across Gaza governorates.QRCS has supported a specialised medical education programme in the Gaza Strip since 2009, which includes 33 medical scholarships in Jordan with a total amount of QR8,944,593.During this period, doctors on scholarships studied medical specialties considered the neediest and scarce, to improve the medical services provided in Gaza hospitals in specialties such as neurosurgery, haematology, oncology, interventional radiology, kidney diseases, endocrinology and diabetes.
