US Air Forces Central Command celebrates handover of its new leadership in Qatar

The Qatar Armed Forces and US Air Forces Central Command — based in Qatar — celebrated the handover of the US Air Forces Central Command to Lieutenant-General Alexus G Grynkewich, succeeding Lieutenant-General Gregory Guillot.The handover ceremony, held at Al Udeid Air Base, was attended by HE the Chief of Staff of the Qatar Armed Forces Staff Lieutenant-General (Pilot) Salem bin Hamad bin Aqeel al-Nabit, a number of heads of diplomatic missions and ambassadors accredited to the country, Commander of the US Central Command Lieutenant-General Michael Corella, a number of senior military leaders from the Qatari and American sides, as well as senior officers and representatives of brotherly and friendly countries. In his speech during the ceremony, HE the Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces stressed that the military relations between the US and Qatar are getting stronger and more solid day by day.He pointed out that the last period witnessed historical achievements, showing the extent of the depth of partnership and friendship between the two countries in various fields.He also pointed out that the evacuations from Afghanistan through Al Udeid Air Base, based on common values and principles, demonstrated Qatar's commitment towards its allies. He said that recently Qatar and the US celebrated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic, and described them as stronger than ever.HE al-Nabit said that Qatar welcomes the US Air Forces Command and the coalition forces and that Qatar is ready to strengthen co-operation with its allies in a way that contributes to strengthening regional and international security and stability.He added that given the importance of this partnership for Qatar, it has started working on developing Al Udeid Air Base to increase operational efficiency and capacity, led by Qatar's allies.HE concluded his speech by thanking Lieutenant-General Gregory Guillot for his efforts in the past period, welcoming at the same time Lieutenant-General Alexus G Grynkewich and wished him success in his new position.
