Ras Abu Aboud Beach to draw visitors during World Cup

After the conclusion of several beautification and development projects, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) is fast nearing completion of the works at Ras Abu Aboud Beach, well before the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The project, being implemented across 260,000sq m along a stretch of 2.2km as part of the works of the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar, is expected to attract tourists during the mega football event, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported.
Five watchtowers, 200 lighting poles and Wi-Fi service will be available.Wave barriers are being installed.With 11,500sq m of green areas, the project has 2km of pedestrian and bicycle paths.These are in addition to 255 parking spaces, 36 bicycle stands, cafes, 216 big umbrellas, 73 seats, 500 trees, and 286 beach chairs, apart from service areas, toilets and beach showers and areas for sports activities.A number of guiding panels with security and safety instructions to the public are installed.Children will not be allowed to enter the area without accompanying adults.
The use of loudspeakers or activity that causes disturbance to others in any way will be prohibited.The project is aimed at turning the beach into a tourist and family destination.The Supervisory Committee's projects are designed to create a sustainable environment, by building central public parks with pedestrian and cycle paths, providing street furniture and decorative lighting, developing Doha Corniche and beaches, in addition to developing the Central Doha area by reviving some public roads, vital places, residential areas and plazas.
