Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) CEO HE Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Thani al-Thani on Thursday opened the introductory meeting for those wishing to work in television.
The event, organised by Qatar TV under the slogan 'Media Renewed,' at Sheraton Grand Doha, had a large presence of media professionals and aspirants for the industry.
Welcoming the gathering, HE Sheikh Abdul Aziz described the occasion, as the inauguration of a new phase for training citizens to be brilliant television professionals.
"This is an opportunity for everyone to shine in all areas of television, from sound, image and all content, because it is time for us to tell our story by ourselves. We are advanced in the field of news, and we want to work to raise the level of work to the highest so that it will have a meaningful content and reaches everyone.
"Professional competence and content are the most important, like a silent film that delivers the message, the media is a message that reaches the audience in a smart way. This new phase will be dedicated to creating content and highlighting Qatar's culture through making change presented through the media.”
Saleh al-Sada, who is in charge of managing the work and tasks of Qatar TV, took the floor to express his happiness and pride in the over 400 applicants to work in television, and the creators, reporters and cadres wishing to develop their skills in all fields.
He praised the tasks and responsibilities of training to achieve success in light of the various opportunities, efforts, and the availability of the latest technologies in Qatar TV studios. The training plan for the programme was presented by Dr Abdullah Faraj al-Marzouqi, the general supervisor of the initiative.
A discussion that ensued saw the participation of Saad al-Rumaihi, president of the Qatar Press Centre, Dr al-Marzouqi, Hamad al-Hajri and Mona al-Othman. The session was moderated by Hassan al-Saei.
Al-Rumaihi spoke about the importance of the media, and its impact on society. He recalled the beginnings of accepting the batch of cadres in Qatar TV, and the criteria for recruiting them, foremost of which are knowledge of writing and poise in facing the camera.
He also recalled the first programmes that Qatar TV witnessed in its early stages, in addition to talking about the development that the national channel witnessed, including its transition from black and white to colour telecast. Al-Rumaihi said that despite the saying that the wonders of the world are seven, he thinks there are eight, and that the eighth wonder is represented by those great writers who authored many unique books, through which they enriched thought and creativity. Therefore, he sees that these human miracles are what complete the seven wonders of the world, pointing out that from here, it is time for man to achieve creativity, and passionately advance what he wants to accomplish, as he will achieve what he wants, as long as he approaches it with love and passion.
Al-Rumaihi stressed the need for the news or programme presenter to be familiar with writing skills, to enjoy doing them, in a way that makes them proficient in the art of writing, which should one of the most important competence in the applicants. He encouraged applicants to work in Qatar TV and said: “The future is before you.” He stressed the importance of the need for distinguished programme providers to be effective in managing programmes and in holding lively conversations on television with their guests. He also stressed the importance of honing the talents of applicants to work in Qatar TV.

These courses contributed to consolidate his skills and media talent.
