Qatar said Thursday it was monitoring the latest developments in Taiwan, and called on all parties to avoid escalation and abide by the international legitimacy and the relevant United Nations resolutions, stressing the important and pivotal roles of the United States and China to preserve security and stability both regionally and internationally.
In a statement Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed Qatar's firm position in backing the ‘One China’ principle and the importance of respecting the principles of the international law, including the principle of sovereignty of states and friendly ties among them.
