A book has recently been issued by Georgetown University, Qatar Foundation's partner, under the title: 'Football in the Middle East, State, Society, and the Beautiful Game'. The book, that has been printed in 2022 Oxford University Press, offers a pioneer analysis on the method of largely forming football for the contemporary society, its impact on economic and political life across the entire Middle East region, and is composed of 12 chapters which comes as a result of three-year research initiative undertaken by the Center for International and Regional Studies (CIRS) at Georgetown University in Qatar that primarily combines original research of senior researchers who explore the relationship between football and international relations, in addition to issues pertaining to national identity, women's rights, refugees communities, work reform, social action, media broadcasting rights, 2022 FIFA World Cup 2022, as well as region's ascension to the global football arena. A broad range of anthropologists, sociologists, historians and political scientists have coauthored the aforementioned book utilizing multidisciplinary research framework to set the football as a complex thread connecting decision-makers and stakeholders in Algeria, Turkey, Egypt, Palestine, Iran and inside and outside GCC countries to mobilize the audience and movements, in addition to disseminating influence regionally and internationally. The book is considered the latest accomplishment among the outcomes of the researches conducted at Georgetown University in Qatar that have been continuing for several years and led to the publication of books, press articles, media participations, Podcasts, courses, student activities, et al. The book is due to be officially published on August 15, 2022 at the venue of Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum in the presence and participation of a number of authors.
