The 15th General Assembly and Induction Ceremony of Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (Picpa) Doha marked a new chapter for 2022-2023 recently, which was attended by more than 70 professionals and guests.
The event was themed 'Towards the goal: Kickoff ablaze spirit through professional excellence and community development.'
The occasion was attended virtually by Dr Erwin Vincent G Alcala, the 69th Picpa national president 2022-2023 (as the guest of honour and inductor), and Lyndon M Magsino (as the Picpa Doha founding president). Also in attendance were the Board of Trustees, previous chapter presidents, families, and friends of the participants.
One of the event highlights included the handing over of the Picpa Qatar flag by outgoing chapter president Abdulrahim Gandamra to the incoming chapter president Christian Dave M Barrameda.
In his speech, Gandamra underscored the achievements of the organisation under his term, which included the continuing professional development courses and seminars for its members and associates; the 93% passing rate for the CMA programme (one of the highest in the entire region), and multisectoral CSR activities, among others. The occasion also recognised the 2021-2022 council officers for their contribution.
Philippine embassy charge d’affaires Cassandra Karemaeh B Sawadjaan, labour attache Adam A Musa, and Philippine Professional Organisation chairman Mark Abendan, who graced the occasion, lauded the contributions of Picpa Doha chapter to the development of the accountancy career and its unwavering participation, making Qatar a safe environment of professional growth for Filipino migrant workers.
