The Management Science Division at the Community College of Qatar (CCQ) hosted Hamad al-Hajri, founder and CEO of Snoonu, a leading Qatari company which offers personal concierge and delivery services and e-commerce application.
The aim of the interaction, as part of the series 'Qatari business success stories' was to encourage students to learn from the experiences of successful businessmen and entrepreneurs.
The event at the CCQ's Lusail campus saw participation from a large number of female students from the Management Science Division, including Departments of Management and public Administration.
The Management Science Division dean Dr Izzeldin Bakhit said: "Hosting a Qatari entrepreneur such as Hamad al-Hajri, reflects positively on the students' vision for their future careers, introduces success factors through learning from the experiences of entrepreneurs who have achieved great and successive successes within a short period of time.
"This event help students of the Management Science Division to acquire the required management knowledge and applied skills, by linking the educational process and the obtained theoretical knowledge, to the actual reality of the business environment, in a way that highlights the potential challenges and how to overcome them. "
Dr Bakhit pointed out that 'Qatari business success stories' comes as part of the efforts to promote entrepreneurship among students of the Management Science Division in general, and Public Administration students in particular.
Al-Hajri said the students of CCQ represent different segments of the Qatari society, including employees in the public sector as well as creative people in various fields, having the ability to acquire new skills through continuous learning with a passion for work, which are considered one of the important foundations for the success of any pilot project.
"The Community College of Qatar, with the various academic programmes it offers, provides students with knowledge to enhance their capabilities as entrepreneurs, preparing them to learn how to effectively manage a business," the Qatari entrepreneur said while observing that there is a need for college graduates to have professional courage and implement and develop pioneering projects and achieve their dreams.
Al-Hajri spoke about his experience in the field of entrepreneurship, and the origin of Snoonu, which started as a graduation project while he was studying at HEC Paris in Qatar. Since then it has become one of the fastest-growing startups in Qatar. Al-Hajri expressed his hope that Snoonu contributes to strengthening Qatar's global position in the field of developing startups, and developing the national economy.
The meeting, also telecast through CCQ’s official Instagram account, witnessed discussions between al-Hajri and the students on how to gain access to knowledge and skills and utilise them in enhancing the local business environment, apply problem-solving and decision-making techniques in business related situations, as well as how to use technology in businesses, and acquire the skills of developing strategies and building investment plans, and other capabilities that every student seeks to enhance.
