Amir, Greek PM discuss ways to expand relations

 His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic Kyriakos Mitsotakis held an official talks session at the Amiri Diwan on Monday.During the session, they discussed aspects of developing joint cooperation, especially in the economy and investment fields, and exchanged views on prominent regional and international issues.HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, HE Chief of Amiri Diwan Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs Eng. Saad bin Sherida al-Kaabi, HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali al-Thani, and HE Advisor to His Highness the Amir for National Security Mohamed bin Ahmed al-Misnad attended the session.On the Greek side, Minister of the Environment and Energy Konstantinos Skrekas and a number of members of the accompanying official delegation attended the session.Also, His Highness the Amir and the Greek prime minister held a bilateral meeting during which they discussed a number of issues of common interest.The Greek premier was accorded an official reception ceremony upon his arrival at the Amiri Diwan. His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and the Greek prime minister later paid a visit to the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum.During the visit, His Highness the Amir and the visiting prime minister were briefed on the history and legacy of sports around the world and the Olympic Games, especially the ancient Greek Olympic Games. Also, they saw sports collectibles from all over the world, since the early beginnings of sports, and visual displays containing images and information about athletes from different countries of the world, in addition to highlighting the history of the Olympic Games since its inception in Greece.At the end of the visit, His Highness the Amir hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of Mitsotakis and the accompanying delegation. The Greek prime minister left Doha yesterday, following the official visit to the country.The prime minister and the delegation accompanying him were seen off at Hamad International Airport by HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs Eng. Saad bin Sherida al-Kaabi, Qatar's Ambassador to Greece Waleed Mohamed al-Emadi, and Greek Ambassador to Qatar Eleni Michalopoulou. Greek PM keen to expand ties with Qatar, confident of 'magnificent' World CupGreek prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Monday said that his country was keen to boost ties with Qatar to include further fields, stressing his belief in Qatar's potential to host a successful FIFA World Cup later this year.He told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that his first official visit to Doha was an occasion to enhance and broaden bilateral cooperation and deepen the relations between both countries. "Areas such as trade, transport, energy, culture, education, investment, tourism, and sports, constitute the core of our set priorities. Qatar is widely known to possess significant potential and expertise in these fields," he said. On Qatar 2022, Mitsotakis said the entire world is eagerly anticipating, as this is the first time in the history of FIFA that the World Cup is hosted by an Arab country.
