The registration for the Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad bin Thani Holy Qur'an Competition is evoking good response with many are applying for the prestigious competition at Grand Mosque. According to a statement from the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf), the number of total applicants reached 910 on Wednesday in various categories while the registration process will come to an end on Thursday. The registration for the 16th edition of the competition started on August 16.
The organising committee said that the category for Qataris recorded registration of 183 females and 77 females while the children’s category had a total of 650 contestants with 169 Qatar including 93 males and 76 females and were registered in the branch, including 93 males and 76 females and 481 residents including 256 males and 225 females.
Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed competition includes several categories of the Holy Quran, including the whole Quran as well as categories of 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 chapters for Qatari citizens. It also includes a category for the memorizers of the residents of imams, muezzins, teachers and readers of the Holy Quran and the famous readers and those who have previously won the competition.
The tests for the contest will be started on September 10 and the detailed schedule of the competition will be announced later.
