Qatar Charity (QC) launched an emergency relief drive for those affected by the devastating floods across Pakistan. The relief drive is aimed at meeting the urgent needs of the affected in the fields of food, health, and shelter, in addition to other areas, a statement said on Sunday.
QC, through its office in Pakistan, aims to reach out to half a million flood-affected people in the six worst hit districts in four provinces - Baluchistan, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab.
In Baluchistan, the relief aid is expected to be delivered in Chaman and Qilla Saifullah districts, while in Sindh, it will be provided in Khairpur and Sanghar districts. Besides, QC is expected to distribute the aid to the affected in Nowshahra district of khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in addition to distributing assistance to the flood-hit people in Rajanpur district of Punjab.
The campaign aims to contribute to the basic food needs of the affected, provide emergency tents, distribute cooking utensils, deploy mobile clinics and offer medicines and health services, especially for women, children, and those with chronic diseases. Besides, hygiene kits and drinking water will be provided.
The government of Pakistan has declared devastating floods a “national emergency” after nearly 1,000 people died and more than 30mn are “badly affected” as monsoon rains continue to lash the country.
“Pakistan is facing devastating flood on a larger scale, which has caused the death of hundreds of lives, damaged thousands of houses, and demolished basic infrastructures, including schools and hospitals,” said Ameen Abdulrahman, director of QC’s Pakistan office. He added that the people of Pakistan are in dire need of emergency assistance, indicating that QC seeks to reach the maximum number of expected beneficiaries by providing them with food packages and shelter aid.
QC urges partners and philanthropists to support the relief drive to ease the suffering of the flood-hit people in Pakistan. Donations to the drive can be made through the link https://www.qcharity.org/en/qa/campaign?campaignId=432.
