The Criminal Investigation Department at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation has arrested two persons for stealing cars.
In a video posted on social media, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said the arrested persons are of 'Arab nationality'. The MoI said the two men specialised in car theft from different regions of the country, adding that the arrests were made after a number of car theft reports were received by the competent authorities.
The duo used to target vehicles that would be parked at a place for a long period of time.
To steal such vehicles, they would make duplicate keys from shops or get them towed away on trucks, the ministry informed.
The MoI has called on the public to make sure that they park their vehicles in secure parking spaces and also ensure the safety of any valuables inside them.
In case of any suspected theft cases, the public should call the emergency service at 999 or register a complaint through Metrash2.
