Under the directions of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamin bin Hamad al-Thani, Qatar has provided the first batch of urgent aid to Pakistan to counter the impact of the ongoing floods.
In a statement on Monday, Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) said the emergency shipment of aid aims to benefit 35,000 Pakistani individuals as part of an urgent relief campaign to address the situation arising from the ongoing floods in Pakistan.
The aid contains 21,000 food baskets, 5,000 tents and 5,000 personal hygiene kits.
Since June this year, Pakistan has been hit by unsuspected monsoon flooding, affecting at least 33mn people. This has resulted in 937 fatalities and the loss of access to hundreds of villages, leaving many citizens stranded with no aid.
The urgent assistance provided by Qatar to support the Pakistani people comes to provide them with urgent necessities, and to support them in rebuilding their societies after this disaster.
