CCQ holds orientation session for new students

The Community College of Qatar (CCQ) held an orientation meeting on the Lusail campus for foundation students and those newly admitted in the specialised programmes, in the presence of the deans of the three academic divisions and officials from the departments of Admission & Registration and Counselling & Advising, as well as the counselling and special and social needs section.
The meeting briefed the attendees on the various programmes and services offered by the college.Students were introduced to the college’s regulations and provided with copies of academic programmes' plans, contact information for various college departments, the academic calendar, policies and procedures, and other information related to support services, registration and academic advising.The meeting included awareness sessions and presentations on academic advising services, policies for registration and students, security and safety policies, and other activities with the participation of students, including a session on how to register in various academic programmes, how to register for courses and how to add and drop courses, with the help of registration and advising personnel.Ghaith al-Ajmi, head of the advising section, stressed the importance of orientation meetings in providing new students with all the necessary information in a smooth and intensive manner and responding to all the relevant enquiries in terms of the academic programmes' plans and the college’s regulations, as well as guiding them on how to take advantage of the potential provided by the college to ensure a high-quality educational and healthy environment."The meeting responded to students' enquiries about the academic programmes' plans, semester course load and other important information related to the methods of obtaining the necessary academic advise, as well as recommendations regarding the selection and registration of courses, and the how to pursue their academic endeavours,” the official said. “At the conclusion of the activities, academic advisers were assigned to new students to provide the necessary assistance in clarifying the majors offered by the college.”“These kind of events aims to provide students with detailed information about the college registration process,” al-Ajmi said. “Orientation meetings also help students explore the majors offered by the college based on their abilities and capabilities, and matching with their thoughts and aspirations."
