The Turkish War of Independence is commemorated as “Victory and Turkish Armed Forces Day” every year on 30th of August. This historical event has many prominent features and consequences, following the fall of Ottoman Empire which ruled vast areas of territory in three continents along six centuries. In other words, it is an epic historic series of events that demonstrates the characteristic features of Turkish nation like determination, sacrifice, fighting spirit, commitment to the homeland and sovereignty against all odds, particularly the quantitative and qualitative supremacy of the occupation forces.
The most important aspect that this victory brought was the foundation of a young and modern republic with the legacy of a deep-rooted empire. Today, we as Turkish nation are aware of all the sacrifices done in those hard times and we are determined to protect and make our country prosperous ceaselessly.
Our valiant armed forces are a professional national army that protects and guards the homeland and preserves its wealth, under the leadership of HE Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkiye, who takes full care of developing and raising the efficiency of our armed forces.
We are also aware that the development we have achieved in our defence and air industries is a guarantee of our independence, and of the liberation of the will of our people and our loyal friends and allies.
Last but not least, in 2023, we will proudly celebrate the centenary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye as well as celebrate the centennial anniversary of Victory Day today. On this occasion we remember with respect and profound gratitude these eternal guardians, our dear martyrs, the leader of our War of Independence and the founder of the Republic of Turkiye Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and his comrades in arms and also our veterans with the same gratitude.
