Biggest UK Navy warship breaks down after setting sail

The UK's biggest warship has suffered from emergency mechanical failure off the south coast of the country.

The warship /HMS Prince of Wales/ has broken down shortly after its departure from Portsmouth in the first step of its landmark mission to the US.

The warship, which is 280 metres long and weighs 65,000 tons, was returned to the shore by tugboats. It arrived at Stokes Bay in Gosport city for examination by specialized engineers to find out the cause behind the malfunction.

The warship will undergo a lengthy inspection at a dry dock, as its historic mission is suspended due to the mechanical failure.
