The campaign is implemented for the fourth year in a row with participation of the Department of Medical Services at the Ministry of Interior, public and private schools, the College of Dental Medicine at Qatar University, University of Doha for Science and Technology, and private hospitals. An initiative of the National Committee for Oral and Dental Health, the campaign targets all segments of society and students at government primary, preparatory and secondary schools by conducting online awareness lectures on the importance of oral and dental health, and by publishing educational materials on their websites. The aim is to raise awareness of the importance of oral health care, positive habits towards current oral and dental services in the community and enhancing communication between dental services and prevention departments in various health entities with different sectors of society. Within the framework of the National Health Strategy and under the umbrella of the National Oral and Dental Health Committee, the PHCC, in collaboration with the health entities in Qatar, implemented the National Oral and Dental Health Survey for Children between the ages of 4 and 8 in 2017. HMC and the Police Hospital of the Ministry of Interior participated in the national survey, conducted in co-operation with the University of Adelaide, Australia. The survey provided the necessary data to make recommendations on reducing the spread of oral and dental diseases and develop optimal plans for their prevention. The Committee is also planning to conduct more surveys and other awareness programmes.
