Qatar chapter of Read Pakistan celebrates Independence Day

Qatar chapter of Read Pakistan organised a family get-together to introduce Read Pakistan to the community and to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Pakistan’s Independence Day with the community.
The celebration started with the national anthems of Qatar and Pakistan, followed by the opening speech by Shahida Khan, who introduced Read Pakistan to the audience. A short video clip was presented to share their achievements in Pakistan, and their efforts to expand them internationally. To make an impact on young readers, motivational speeches were delivered by Zakariya Nadeem and Ayesha Mushtaq.A tableau, presented by a group of children to the tunes of the famous song Dil Dil Pakistan, was prepared by Read Pakistan vice president Sobia Arif. Dr Sadia Ishaq highlighted the role of women in the freedom movement of Pakistan by explaining how Fatima Jinnah supported her brother, Quad-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.The second part of the session was Independence Day celebration that started with a quiz on Pakistan, jointly conducted by Maryam Khalid, Rimsha Khalid and Mazhar Yousufzai. This segment also included singing competition for men, women and children. Also held was a ‘Best-Dressed’ competition for children.These were conducted by content writer Farzana Safdar. A face painting session for children was conducted by Abeer Atiq and Areej Atiq.The formal session ended with a vote of thanks by spokesperson Uzma Ansari, and a closing speech by Pakistan embassy's community welfare attache Waheed Ullah Wazir. He lauded the effort by the ladies of the community in making the session a success. The official encouraged the community to continue contributing towards the wellbeing of Qatar along with supporting Pakistan. He distributed certificates of excellence among the team Read Pakistan Qatar and the organising committee issued by Read Pakistan and Pakistan Women Forum Qatar.The winners of activities were given gifts, sponsored by Al Hashmi Oud & Perfumes, Today’s Fashion, Pistachio Restaurant, and Al Mana Foods (Shan Masala).Qatar chapter of Read Pakistan, launched in November 2021, is led by president Shahida Khan. The other officials are general secretary Hasan Ali, literary head Asfandiar Ansari, and student ambassador Ayesha. Qatar chapter is part of Gulf Section of Read Pakistan.
