Ooredoo was the partner and sponsor of the Microsoft Qatar Datacentre Region launch event, a celebration titled 'Qatar’s Digital Journey into the Future', hosted by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and Microsoft. The launch of the Microsoft Datacentre Region in Qatar was held on August 31 at Marsa Malaz Kempinski, The Pearl, Doha.
Microsoft’s new Azure cloud region is now open for organisations and businesses in Qatar of all sizes and across all industries wishing to store their data in Qatar, paving the way for new possibilities and innovation – with a strong focus on privacy and data security. To mark this major milestone, the event was held under the patronage of HE Mohamed bin Ali al-Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, in the presence of other esteemed ministers and high-level private sector executives as well as a strong representation from Microsoft global and regional executives. It included keynote speeches from MCIT and Microsoft, in addition to technology showcases, panel discussions and the highlighting of Qatar’s digital transformation success stories from various public sector and private sector organisations.
Thani Ali al-Malki, executive director-Business at Ooredoo, said: “I am delighted and proud that Ooredoo partnered with Microsoft on this launch, which fits within our strategic plan to drive acceleration of efforts to implement Qatar’s digital transformation agenda and support the building of a knowledge-based economy in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. We look forward to many more years of aligning our efforts with Microsoft, for the benefit of both entities and for the ongoing development of Qatar, building upon our current role hosting Microsoft availability zones.”
