HE the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Sheikh Dr Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali al-Thani has issued ministerial decision no 15 for 2022 regarding the regulation of the hunting season of some wild birds and animals.
The decision stipulates that the hunting season of the migratory birds is limited from September 1, 2022 until February 15, 2023, on condition that the Houbara (bustard) bird should be hunted by falcons only and the non-traditional tools and methods of hunting are completely banned, in particular gadgets that emit bird calls.
The wild rabbit hunting season starts on December 15, 2022 and ends on January 15, 2023 and they are to be hunted only with falcons and hunting dogs.
It is banned to hunt or sell all other wild birds and animals all through the year. Further, hunting is banned at the natural reserves and islands, inside the boundaries of villages, cities and public parks, and inside the private properties and farms without the permission of the owners and those entitled to them.
