Nepalese community celebrates Teej

A 'Teej Special Programme 2022' was held through co-ordination between NRNA Qatar and 90 different organisations established in Qatar.
Haritalika Teej is a festival celebrated by Nepalese women, and a cultural programme was organised in Qatar on the occasion.
The programme was conducted under the chairmanship of NRNA Qatar (Nepali community) president Mohamed Muktda Musalman. The special guest was Major Talal Menassar al-Madhouri, representative of the Community Police under the Ministry of Interior. The chief guest was Nepal's ambassador to Qatar, Dr Naresh Bikram Dhakal. NRNA ICC vice-president Narendra Bhat and NRNA ICC Youth vice-president Raj Regmi, Home Nath Sharma, K B Hamal and other officials, presidents and representatives of organising entities and representatives of various bodies were also in attendance.Some 12 speakers addressed the programme, while a number of artistes presented musical performances. Three artistes invited from Nepal, singer Sharmila Bisi, dancer Rubina Adhikari and folk singer Sunita Budha Chhetri, presented half-a-dozen songs.
Chhetri had the audience humming to the tunes of the popular Teej song, 'Jhamjham Jhamkana'. Programme co-ordinator and first vice-president of NRNA-NCC Qatar, Zaibi Chamling Rai, gave the welcome speech while the programme was facilitated by general secretary Padam Giri. Artistes from the Qatar branch of the National Folk and Dual Song Institute welcomed the audience with a song.Major al-Madhouri wished the Nepalese community on the occasion and expressed gratitude for the invitation. He shared the Community Police hotline number for the benefit of the attendees and their acquaintances.Around 700 participants took part in the programme.Musalman thanked all participants and the organising body. He said Qatar is an excellent destination for people from Nepal, noting that the country is the best destination in the Middle East for Nepalese women.
