The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has celebrated the graduation of 181 first-batch graduates (employees and engineers) of its training programmes, in the presence of Dr Saad bin Ahmad al-Muhannadi, president of Ashghal, alongside managers, assistant managers, section heads and partners.
Al-Muhannadi said Ashghal was able to double the number of exceptional and highly qualified Qatari employees during the past four years. “We look forward to seeing these cadres as leaders in Ashghal and plan high-quality infrastructure in the future. We also value and appreciate our partners’ efforts and effective contributions towards the success of the training programmes,” he said.

The ceremony witnessed the graduation of 181 employees and engineers who attended various specialised and certified training programmes to develop engineers and employees from multiple entities and universities. These include the Leadership Development Programme, designed for employees in leadership and supervisory positions; Project Management Programme, designed to develop the capabilities of fresh Qatari engineers; Succession Programme, designed to prepare Qatari leaders to hold leadership positions in Ashghal in the future; Graduate Development Programme, designed to develop fresh graduates (non-engineers); Administrative Development Programme, designed to develop clerk positions; and Individual Development Plan; designed to develop the skills and capabilities of all Qatari employees.


These are in addition to the Professional Certification Programme for Qatari employees who are registered in the professional certification programme.
Yousef al-Emadi, director of Project Affairs, said the most important strategic objective of Ashghal is to increase the number of competent Qatari employees, and develop their capabilities and skills through Ashghal’s development and training programmes, as the authority's role goes beyond constructing roads, bridges, drainage networks and government buildings.
Rashid Saeed M A al-Hajri, acting manager of the Human Resources Department, noted that Ashghal was committed to continuous development of human resources by conducting studies and setting high standards to determine the training programmes needed, and develop appropriate training programmes to ensure the best performance.
“The training programmes aim to create exceptionally competent Qatari cadres to take leadership positions in Ashghal and enforce the first pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030, pertaining to human development, while achieving the authority’s objective in excellence of implementation and management of efficient and sustainable infrastructure,” he explained.
Shaikha Basahal, head of the Training and Organisational Development Section, said Ashghal has actively strived to achieve and effectively contribute through designing, preparing and implementing several specialised training programmes with a duration spanning 24-36 months.
“These programmes were delivered in co-operation with various universities, local and international training centres, including experts and consultation companies, as the training programmes differ based on employees, their job level and expertise."
