LIS marks 'Hindi Diwas'

Hindi is the third-most spoken language in the world after English and Mandarin. Hindi Diwas is celebrated on September 14, marking the day when the Union Government of India adopted Hindi as an official language in 1949.
The Hindi Department of Loyola International School (LIS) celebrated 'Hindi Diwas' or Hindi Day recently. Hindi is the third-most spoken language in the world after English and Mandarin. Hindi Diwas is celebrated on September 14, marking the day when the Union Government of India adopted Hindi as an official language in 1949. At the LIS event, Dr Meenu Parashar, a renowned writer, poet, toastmaster and a former teacher of Hindi was the guest of honour. Students presented poems by renowned poets, slogans, skit about languages of India, speeches, as well as songs and dances highlighting the significance of Hindi. Parashar recited a poem she wrote about the beauty of the language. Principal Pramod Kumar Ranwaka spoke. Department head Sailaja Mantha proposed a vote of thanks. The programme was co-ordinated by Muskan Mittu and Priyanka Choudhary.
