Celebrating Bapu, an open quiz contest on the globally acclaimed advocate of peace and non-violence will be organised by the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) as part of the events to commemorate the 153rd birthday anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
“The idea for such a contest is to act as a constant reminder about the life of Mahatma Gandhi," emphasised ICC president P N Baburajan in a statement. “Bapu’s ideas and principles and his teaching of peace and non-violence are very much relevant today," he added.
Part of the much longer ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahaotsav’, ‘Celebrating Bapu’ is open to Indian community members aged 12 and above. Entries for the contest are being accepted on Google Form (https://forms.gle/MKHDCimrRXwv9toy6) until September 24.
“Being organised at the ICC’s Ashoka Hall, the written preliminary test on October 1 will select eight teams of two members each, for the two semi-finals on the same day. Four teams, the best two from each semi-final, will qualify for the final to be held as part of the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations at ICC on October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi”, explained general secretary Krishna Kumar Bandhakavi.
The event will be graced by Indian ambassador Dr Deepak Mittal.
The quiz contest will be anchored by Shafqat Nabi, a fashion management professional and columnist.
