Qatargas has recently recognised its Covid-19 Taskforce for 'outstanding' performance that helped the company navigate unprecedented challenges associated with the pandemic. Even at the peak of the pandemic, Qatargas maintained its production, delivered all the committed cargoes and carried out all scheduled maintenance works while industry peers either suspended or cut short all or most of such activities.
The taskforce played an instrumental role in helping the Company act with foresight directing its strategic thinking and a comprehensive risk management approach that was adopted to sustain business continuity, reliable and safe operations and delivery of cleaner energy to customers around the globe. Addressing the taskforce members, Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa al-Thani, chief executive officer, Qatargas, said, “I’m extremely proud of what you have achieved collectively. The taskforce not only helped protect our employees and their families during this serious outbreak, but also contributed tremendously to maintaining business continuity.
“Qatargas demonstrated sustained delivery to remain on plan despite all the challenges associated with the pandemic because of our incredible taskforce and our entire team. As a result, Qatargas is now stronger and more resilient,” he added.Speaking on the occasion, Ziad Yehya, Corporate Planning & Enterprise Risk manager and head of the taskforce, said, “Qatargas’ Covid19 taskforce, which consisted of 175 employees representing every function in the company, has truly been an unmatched success story in our recent history. Working together in an ever-changing landscape that was brought forth by the pandemic, the team made wonders which were clearly evident in the 98% positive responses we received from employees on our leadership. “Some of the extra ordinary achievements of the team included the 99% covid19 vaccination rates within the company, 60,000 covid tests and 100 guidance notes and thousands of plans issued to the staff to protect our people and their families and ensure our business continuity and overcome the pandemic. The results were astonishing as we didn’t lose a single life during the crisis; neither we missed a single production schedule or cargo to any customer. This is truly phenomenal.” Members of the Qatargas Management Leadership Team (MLT) also addressed the audience and expressed their gratitude to every single functional team within the taskforce and urged them to keep up the extraordinary efforts in the upcoming period as well. Taskforce members shared their experiences as well as key lessons learned during the pandemic.
