Princess Dina Mired, Dr Mona bint Fahd visit Qatar Cancer Society

Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Jabor al-Thani, chairman of Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) received Princess Dina Mired, former president of the Union for International Cancer Control and Dr Mona bint Fahd al-Said, assistant vice-chancellor for international co-operation, Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) and an accompanying delegation at QCS headquarters.During the visit, the dignitaries toured the activities of the society and the Cancer Awareness Centre and their role in spreading awareness of the disease through a set of programmes targeting all societal groups. They praised QCS efforts in promoting the culture of early detection of the disease, raising awareness, and supporting people living with cancer.They also discussed ways of co-operation and the latest developments in cancer control, support, empowerment, and advocacy for people living with the disease and in the field of professional development and scientific research in cancer. Sheikh Dr Khalid expressed his happiness on the visit and presented QCS activities and its role in spreading community awareness as well as supporting, empowering, and advocating for people living with cancer.He stressed the continuation of QCS to achieve its mission to prevent cancer, and control the burden in Qatar by working with the partners to educate the community and support, empower and advocate for individuals living with cancer and to engage in the professional development and scientific research in the field of cancer.
