Education Ministry, QF launch Rasekh, new learning platform

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), in co-operation with Qatar Foundation (QF) and under the patronage and presence of HE the minister Buthaina bint Ali al-Jabr al-Nuaimi, Tuesday launched the 'Rasekh' initiative, an online educational platform affiliated with QF and accessible to all schools across Qatar.Rasekh aims to provide high-quality educational experiences driven by local visions enabling schools to integrate curricula, local knowledge and innovations, values, heritage and national identity, and to identify global sustainability challenges related to the local context. The initiative also targets promoting the Arabic language, highlighting national values and identity, and promoting local knowledge.By linking all knowledge societies within and outside Qatar Foundation while ensuring students’ access to knowledge in various fields, Rasekh is meant to encourage students’ works that reflect their values, morals and national identity, and to present their achievements locally and globally to proudly communicate with the world in their mother tongue.Maha al-Ruwaili, assistant undersecretary for Educational Affairs at the MoEHE, said: “The platform achieves equality, inclusiveness, quality and unique opportunities to raise the level of education in the Qatari society. It represents an accessible but solid reference for all students in public and private schools to study.During the launch event, Sheikha Noof bint Ahmed bin Saif al-Thani, the executive director, Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships at the Pre-University Education office at QF and keynote speaker at the launch event, stated: “Rasekh represents an inclusive platform that connects the global context with local knowledge, innovation, language, culture, heritage and values. Its importance lies in expanding the scope of co-operation among institutions and developing multidisciplinary projects to integrate knowledge between knowledge societies inside and outside Qatar.“Through Rasekh, we seek to help teachers and learners to establish new connections between all kinds of knowledge, facts, topics, and global and local issues. The co-operation between QF Pre-University Education and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education is permanent and continuous. We were partners in a number of initiatives and projects in the past."A panel discussion was held during the launch ceremony of Rasekh. Dr Saeed Ismail, director of Qatar Genome Programme at QF, spoke about the different sciences and studies produced by Qatar Genome Programme, stating the need to motivate the next generation to the future. Dima Darwish, the head of Education Programmes Department at QF Qatar Genome Programme, spoke about their evaluation of the partnership with Rasekh and its future prospects, and how to encourage companies to join the initiative.
